Home / Random Bits / Survey On Reading
The AP released an article about reading habits of adults in the U.S. Most of the survey results were in line with what I would imagine them to be, if I were inclined to sit around and imagine others reading (well, imagine people reading things other than my glorious website).
One stat that I found humorous was “those who said they never attend religious services read nearly twice as many as those who attend frequently.” Another bit I thought was unusual was that the Internet, television, and movies were supposedly to blame for lack of readership. I guess I’m the strange one who looks into authors because of thoroughly enjoying a movie based on one of their books or following recommendations on books from various places I read online.
As for my reading habits (not than anyone cares), they bounce around a little but I read anywhere from 1 to 5 books a month. It depends on genre and weight. Fiction goes faster than nonfiction and obviously page count plays a factor. Half the stuff I read is research for a book that I will never finish, I’ve only barely started it and I’m good at dropping things.
Eventually this site will have a little traffic. Once it does and you see this post, feel free to share your Who, What, When, Where, Why, and How of reading…
